The iconic Modhera Sun Temple becomes the setting for the two-day Uttarardh Mahotsav, a prestigious classical dance festival rooted in India’s spiritual and artistic traditions.

Organised to mark Uttarardh, the sacred phase signifying the sun’s northward movement after the winter solstice, the festival celebrates renewal, light, and knowledge. This celestial transition holds deep cultural importance in Indian philosophy and is honoured through refined classical art forms.

Uttarardh Mahotsav is dedicated to the Guru–Shishya tradition, where renowned masters and accomplished disciples come together to present classical dance performances. Against the moonlit backdrop of the magnificent Sun Temple, artists perform various Indian classical dance styles, creating a rare blend of architecture, devotion, and movement.
