Hong Kong, August 26, 2025: The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has successfully concluded its annual 5-City Hong Kong Travel Mission to India, reinforcing the city’s position as a year-round destination for leisure, family, and business travellers.
Held between August 18–26, 2025, the mission covered Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai, bringing together 41 Hong Kong tourism partners including theme parks, attractions, airlines, cruise lines, leading hotels, and destination management companies (DMCs). The delegation engaged with more than 750 Indian travel agents and tourism professionals, strengthening trade relations and expanding opportunities for collaboration.
Strong Recovery in Indian Visitor Arrivals
Between January and July 2025, Hong Kong welcomed 233,000 Indian visitors, an 8% year-on-year growth that represents 94% recovery to pre-pandemic levels. India is now the 11th largest source market for Hong Kong, with travellers staying an average of four nights, and nearly two-thirds choosing overnight stays.
Connectivity is robust, with 53 weekly direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, making Hong Kong one of the most accessible international destinations for Indian travellers.
Travel Trends from India
- First-time visitors: 43% of Indian travellers in 2025 are discovering Hong Kong for the first time.
- Family & group travel: Up from 29% in Q1 to 43% in Q2 this year.
- Premium travel demand: India ranks 5th in per capita spending, highlighting strong interest in luxury experiences.
- MICE growth: Business and incentive travel rose 33% year-on-year, with 55,587 delegates visiting in the first half of 2025.
